Who can apply?

1. Who organises the basic training course for detectoristss

The Institut national de recherches archéologiques (INRA) organises basic training courses for detectorists.

2. How to participate in the basic training course

If you would like to take part in the basic training course, which is compulsory in order to apply for a ministerial authorisation to use metal detectors and other electronic and magnetic detection equipment to search for elements of the archaeological heritage, please send the completed form (in French) to prospection@inra.etat.lu .

3. The basic training course

Basic training courses are organised at least once a year by INRA. Its purpose is to introduce all interested parties to the methods of prospecting, documenting, and conserving archaeological heritage, as well as to the legislation applicable to the use of metal detectors and other electronic and magnetic detection equipment in the search for elements of archaeological heritage.

The training consists of a theoretical and a practical part. The total duration of the course is eight hours.

4. After participation in the basic training course

Participants who have completed the entire basic training course will receive a certificate of attendance at the end of the course.
